Day 7-Pisa!!!-Thursday-2/3/11
Ciao Bella! Hello Beautiful! Come va? How are you? Benissimo Grazie! Very good thank you! Haha just a short introduction into what I'm learning here in Florence/Firenze :) I had my first Italian Language quiz today, I think it went well. I find out on Monday how I did so keep you're fingers crossed that I am as decent at this language as I think I am lol. After class today we didn't have a ton of time because we had to meet at the school to leave for Pisa within the hour so for a quick lunch we got Panini's at a little shop right outside our school. They are amazing! Oh my gosh! I even went out of the box and loved mine. I was going to get a mozzarella, tomato, ham, pesto panini, but instead I looked at this girl and asked what she had. She said it was the salami, eggplant, and some kind of cheese one with some kind of spread, I can't remember because this was a couple days ago, but the minute she said the salami was kind of spicy I was sold! Haha I miss spicy sooo much! Nothing here is spicy :( I mean, the salami had a kind of weak kick to it, but nothing like I'm used to at home. I can't wait until I visit somewhere that has something spicy! I am craving Mexican lol I love the Italian food, but I still love my Mexican food and that is no where to be found here! Agh!! Anyways, after the panini's we boarded walked a long way to find the buses to board to Pisa and a weird thing happened. When we stopped in front of this random bridge I had serious déjà vu! I don't know how that could happen, but I felt like I had been in that exact same spot doing the exact same thing in a crowd like the students we were walking with. I don't know it was weird though. I'm sure it just happened in a dream or something, but how crazy because I definitely had never been there before! Anyways our bus ride to Pisa was about an hour and a half or something, kind of long. When we got there at 4:30 all the buildings were closed so we couldn't even go inside them which was disappointing. I tried taking out my camera and turning it on and it wouldn't work so I freaked out because it was working fine the previous day and I even charged it up because I knew we were going to Pisa. Luckily, my friends took pictures of me kicking the tower and one where I was trying to kick, but started falling. It actually turned out really cool. I am still really upset my camera didn't work, but it wasn't a huge deal. After I got back though it wouldn't charge so I thought I fried it and was super super upset since I just got it for Christmas. I was lucky again because my friend Clara on the trip had two cameras. Her small digital one which she let me use and she used her big macho one. I was sooo happy I had that because we left for Venice the next day and I knew I would need one. I just put my memory card in her camera all weekend and she has a cannon which takes really nice pictures :) Yay! So thank you Clara for saving me from missing out on the most beautiful weekend of my life!!! I'll get to that in the next blog post. Back to after Pisa and the camera mishap. It was Thursday night and we hadn't gone out all week so the girls and I were ready for a little end of the first week of school celebration. We had some wine while we were getting ready in our room and then we found out it was JoJo's 21st birthday ( he is a kid in our program) so everyone went down to his room for awhile and when I say everyone I mean his hotel room was packed! The girls and I left because it was too packed and decided to go down to Brian's room where we had a small dance party to pump us up and eventually the hotel people kicked the party out so we all went to the dance club 21 (sorry, here they are called disco techas not dance clubs). It was dead when we first got there by like elevenish, but by 12:30am the place was packed! It was a ton of fun! After that we walked back and went to bed. I wore my high heel gray boots and the next morning I was regretting that decision because I had a blister on the bottom of my foot… ick.
