HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL SCHROEDER!!! :)
Today, as I just wished him, is my cousin's birthday.
He always rubs it in my face that he's two weeks older than I am, but hey, that just means I am two weeks younger and cuter than you are Mike ;) hehe JUST KIDDING!
Anyways, today I woke up and it looked pretty crummy out and I was being pokey so I opted for the bus.
It was cold out so I got a cappuccino to warm me up and wake me up before class, it was a good choice.
Mafia class went well.
Then I had a long break between classes so I went and got lunch with Molly and Clara.
It was good we got Panini's and mixed veggies on the side :)
After I walked with Molly to meet her friends at the Pantheon.
I informed them of what I learned in my class about it and went inside it to show them Raphael's grave and point out the drains and such.
Plus, why wouldn't I want to go inside it again?
It's the Pantheon!
After awing the Pantheon again I walked back to the school and read my Italian mafia textbook for awhile.
When that got boring I walked to Jodine's and hung out at her place for a little bit.
When it was time for my final class of the day at 5pm I walked back to the school and got a little excited because we were taking a "field lecture" as they call them here and going to the Coliseum!
Woooo! Unfortunately, it was already closed so we only got to stare at the outside of the building and it started raining on us, but it was still an unbelievable sight to see :)
After our field lecture I walked home.
Molly and I decided to bring her friends out to dinner near the Pantheon because we had a really good meal there previously for a good price.
This time
when we found a restaurant we liked, they said they were full and escorted us to their "other room".
It was weird.
We were the only ones in the "other room" and it was pretty sketchy.
I think they knew we were uncomfortable/bummed out because the real restaurant looked super cute and nice because they gave us two free baskets of bread and two free bottles of water (both which you normally have to pay for).
The meal was surprisingly good.
I thought I ordered scallops and mushrooms, but I actually got meat and mushrooms.
I'm not sure what kind of meat it was, but it was delicious!
It was finally meat that wasn't super salty and it had gravy too! :)
I was looking forward to eating scallops, but I couldn't complain about what I did get.
After dinner we showed them the best gelato place in the world.
No, not the chocolate dipped one, though that's a close second, this place has every flavor you could think of!
It's awesome!
A bonus is that they take our meal tickets!
Non of the gelato places thus far have!
:D
I got duplo (which is a very delicious candy bar here with nutella, chocolate, and hazelnuts), Irish coffee, and gianduia.
I think
the guy behind the counter really likes the gianduia because it literally took over the entire bottom of my cup.
It was good, but I think the duplo is my all time favorite :)
After that we made our way home chit chatting away.
It was a good night!
I was sad to see Molly's friends go and so was she.
They were really nice :(
We went upstairs and hung out for awhile then headed off to sleep.
The Coliseum
This picture is purely to inform you that yes, I was distracted/keeping watch on that Thunderstorm a brewin in the sky. I know, I should have been paying attention to my instructor, but when my life is at stake there are other important things at hand!
Yes, the sun happened to come out at last minute, but don't let that fool you, it still poured!
Under excavation, they are starting to find things that make them believe Caesar once lived here.
All the holes you see in this picture are where it was issued to pull out all the metal pieces that kept the Coliseum together, well when an earthquake hit, they realized how important those pieces were and the Pope of that time decided to make restorations to the Coliseum.
The brick you see in this picture are the Pope's restorations to keep the Coliseum in tact.
