When In Roma: Day 40- Roma!-Saturday-3/12/11

     Becky arrived today!!! I woke up and got ready then headed off to the train station around 1pm. I figured she would probably be there about an hour after landing in the airport. It only took about five minutes of sitting at the café meeting spot for her to find me! :) She said she'd been there for twenty minutes and was just about to give up when she saw the bookstore I was talking about and me sitting at the café, then she realized how obvious my directions were, yay!!

     I took one of her bags and we headed to my apartment. A short ten minute walk, I let her change and freshen up, then we headed to grab her a Panini and espresso before heading back to termini, the train/bus/metro station. We had tickets to the rugby game Italia vs. France and it started at 3:30pm so we had to get a move on. Poor girl, I knew she wanted to sleep, but then her time clock would be off, so I had to keep her moving.

     The rugby game was wild and fantastic! I think Becky really enjoyed it :) The whole stadium had the most awesome wave going around it at one point, it was sweet! It was a really big deal of a game because for the first time ever Italy beat France and by only one point!!! It was super fun and everyone was in very good spirits! You should've heard the stadium roaring and singing at the end of the game :)

     After the game we headed home. The girls stopped for kebabs for dinner, but I knew Becky would like a quick nap before eating anything so us two headed back to my place. I let her sleep for two hours and then woke her up to get ready. We ran to a local trattoria for some pasta. It wasn't the best in town, but we were running a little late. Becky just looked so peaceful sleeping, I was afraid to wake her.

     After dinner we came back to the apartment to get Jodine and Molly and headed off to another girl's apartment in the program. We had some wine there and took pictures because we were all dressed up. We decided to go to a dance club called Babel, we heard it was a very upscale club where even celebrities went! We took a cab there and I quickly realized it was only about a ten minute walk from our apartment. At first we had the cab driver double check his address because he showed up at a park and when he did, we realized the club was underground beneath the park, super cool!

     We had to go through three different security entrance points, but eventually we made it in and without a cover too! Once we got inside Jodine and I quickly realized the France and Italy rugby teams were there! They looked completely different all cleaned up and in full tuxedoes! They were in the VIP section of course, but Jodine and I went over to be in sight of one of the Italy rugby members, we waved at him and he winked back at us! Haha! It was pretty sweet, I can't say I've ever been in a club with a professional athlete before.

     The club was really fun, but around two am Becky looked exhausted and my feet were killing me from my high heels so we decided to head home. We got a crepe with smarties on the way, Becky's first crepe experience, and it was a very enjoyable one. Altogether, I think Becky's first night here was a pretty good one if I do say so myself :)
