I have just realized that I think my numbers are all off for this whole journal because I don't think I started counting right away? Lol Oh well… Woke up this morning and packed everything up. We had check out at 10am and headed to find a place for breakfast. After eating a croissant and cappuccino we headed out to explore Manarola a bit since we had yet to do this in the day light. It was a very pretty little town. We walked over by the sea and up the hill a ways to take in the sights.
After snapping a few photos the girls and I headed for the train station. We had to take the train to La Spezia then wait about two hours for our train home to Rome. We explored La Spezia a little bit then grabbed some lunch and lounged around the train station. We all had books so reading in the sunlight was pretty awesome.
The train ride felt waayy longer than the first time, probably because I was sad to leave Cinque Terre but, at the same time, ready to be back in Rome. I lucked out again and had both Liz and Emily in my compartment this time. It was nice :) We mostly read though so it was a pretty quiet ride.
When we finally got home, Molly and I were starving so we went and got pizza for dinner at a restaurant right around the corner from us. They had a sign on the that said they took tickets and it was close to us so we went in and ordered a pizza. Little did we know, they don't accept tickets on Sunday. We left our food tickets on the table and got up to leave. We passed the waiter as we left and told him it was on the table.
Just as we were passing by the second window of the restaurant the waiter jumps out of a side door and gets all upset saying they don't take tickets on Sunday. The whole restaurant is looking at us, mind you, probably thinking we shorted the waiter, which we didn't and he made us take back the tickets and pay cash. It was super embarrassing. Molly and I have made a pact not to go back there. We were really upset about it, these tickets have gone from sounding like a great idea when I signed up for the program, to now a pain in the butt/challenge to see who actually takes them and who does not.
It was not the way we wanted to end our night, especially after traveling all day, but we were very thankful to finally get home to our apartment and fall fast asleep in our own beds.
