Woke up this morning around 9am and studied for awhile letting Becky get some sleep. Around one Becky, Molly, and I left to get lunch. We ended up at a local café and got some lasagna. It was pretty good :) We were very confused about the time change. We had no idea that the time doesn't change in Europe and that it only changes at home. How strange? We were trying to find a bar or pub that was playing the local Roma soccer game, but with the time change we literally walked for an hour or so before figuring it out that the time didn't change and that's why there wasn't any places open when we first started looking.
Eventually, we found our way to New Age café I think it was called where we met an older guy who was visiting his daughter who was our age or a little older. He was very nice, a professor, but did not speak very much English. He invited us three to sit with him during the soccer game and together we communicated half in English half in Italian. It was quite an exchange and by the end of the game my head hurt a little bit from all the thinking I had to do to come up with words in Italian to speak to him with.
He bought us all a round of beers which was very nice of him, we were going to buy him his beer, but he beat us to the punch. Roma won the game which was pretty awesome. They played their huge rival Lazio. The rain was pouring before the game while we were walking around for that hour and after it had lightened up which was nice. Becky, Molly, and I made our way home stopping at the little gelato place on the corner, since Becky had yet to try gelato in Rome. I had pistachio and gianduja and Becky had lemon ice and strawberry.
After we got back to the apartment I studied awhile longer while Becky used my computer to go online and read Angels and Demons. Excellent book by the way for those who have not read it yet, I highly suggest it! I studied for awhile, but eventually we decided to head to dinner. I wanted Becky to experience some good pizza so I took her down by the Pantheon. She had yet to see the Pantheon, but unfortunately it wasn't open so we took pictures from the outside then went to have some dinner.
We shared a margarita and buffalo mozzarella and tomato pizza with some red wine. It was a pretty delicious dinner. We sat and talked a long time and caught up on life and about the trips we were taking in the next couple of days. Eventually we made our way back to the apartment where Becky turned in early and I studied awhile longer. I really hope all the studying pays off because I am really nervous for my two mid-terms Monday!
