Day 34-Roma!-Wednesday-3/2/11

Woke up to Rain again. Nice.  Forgot my umbrella. Even Better.  Bus was late.  Not a happy camper.  Finally got on the bus which was more crowded than ever and smelt like wet dog.  It took forever to get to our stop and Courtney and I had planned on getting breakfast, but time was running short.  We ran into the café, grabbed a donut and chugged a cappuccino and literally ran to  school.  It made my day a little better knowing how ridiculous we looked. :)  After class the rain had slowed down a bit and was a little more bearable.  Molly and I decided to head home and pick up a few groceries for dinner.  We stopped on the way and got a Kebab which is sort of like a greek gyro.  It was really good, but the people working weren't the nicest.  Molly and I have decided that when it rains in Rome people are mean.  Maybe not mean, but severely crabby.  The guy at the Kebab place didn't seem to care for us and neither did the lady at the grocery store.  We were relieved when we finally made it to the piece and quiet of our apartment.  We watched some American television and felt like we were at home where people liked us.  :D  It was a good couple relaxing hours, but unfortunately I had to head back to school.  This time I made sure I had my umbrella.  I was early to class so I settled myself in all ready, but when the teacher came in she decided there was a change of plans and we were off to St. Paul's Basilica.  I was kind of unhappy at first, but also really excited to go on a class adventure.  My class seemed really upset about this though and I have realized I have a low tolerance for complainers.  Why is it a big deal if the professor changes her mind last minute?  Why does she need to spoon feed you a review for our quiz Monday?  Why did you not know we had a quiz this upcoming Monday?  Ugh, for being from prestigious schools some of the kids in our program are really stupid/annoying.  Sorry, I'm venting, but really, we are in Rome, can't you just roll with it?  People would kill to be here :)  Anyways, the basilica was gorgeous as is every other church here.  I have a few pictures to put up before my camera died so I will make sure to do that.  After we toured the church we headed home on the Metro which ended at Termani right by my place.  That was nice because I could walk home without a bus for once.  I got my monthly bus pass though, I really didn't want to get one, but it seems like a better deal bases on my location and if this rain keeps up like it has all week, walking would stink.  Plus I have some stupid cold still and anything I can do to get better is always a bonus.  After I got home I made some pasta with Molly that was delicious and after reading some Angels and Demons I fell asleep because I was too exhausted for anything else.

  1. FYI - You are sooo awesome for keeping up with your blog! I am currently printing off the entries for Grandma E to read :) My only request is if you could put some spacing in between there for easier reading (more paragraphs instead of one big lump). Thanks love!
